Food and tours are the in thing to do in Spain, specially in Madrid where dining out is not only a Spanish passion but a national must do. The Spanish gastronomy is delicious and with so many different varieties, you really don´t know where to start.
I found a really quaint place, decorated with an ethnic touch that is a romantic and quiet space to enjoy a great meal. The weekends are a little more crazy but if you go during the weekday, you will indulge in an elegant meal that fuses different origins of styles while maintain the traditional Spanish flavor-

Here she is Miss Spain 2007. Her name is Natalia Zabala Arroyo. She is 24 years old and is a law student from Gipuzkoa, you may wonder where that is, well..Gipuzkoa is part of basque country in the north of Spain. A quaint little city that will probably become a little better known, now that one of their own will aspire for the title of Miss Universe on May 29th at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico.
She was my favorite from the getgo and we will all be routing for her in the weeks to come.

Spring is here, so let the festivals begin. One of the most interesting festivals happens in Palma de Mallorca starting on April the 10th and runs through the 14th of the same month. The World Folkdance Festival which was premiered on 1985 Munich now has a loyal following. It brings together thousands of dancers from more than 67 countries to share in their love for dance.
Here you can admire the art of ancient movement through dance. A captivating art form that is brought back to life every year with this wonderful tradition. Palma de Mallorca is the perfect city to host this event. If you are intrigued by dance and its folk origins, I recommend you make a trip and re live your passion for dance.

All is ready for the launch of one of the most innovated projects Spain has to offer, starting in Malaga in a few months any one will be able to connect through the Internet from anywhere in the city. So far in the world only San Francisco, Blanquefort (France), and Singapur are the only cities in the world to enjoy this benefit.
This means tourists traveling in Malaga will not need to go to a cyber cafe but just bring their lap tops with them and start cruising the Internet. The project which costs over 200,000 euros will not stop in Malaga, 20 to 30 more cities throughout the country will also join in by the end of the year.

Ok, so you´ve been reading this blog for a while now and you are getting up the nerve to take the plunge and visit Spain but you want to brush up on your Spanish a little before you get here, you don´t have much time and you just want to learn the basics. Well, CoffeBreak Spanish (cute name) offers you quick Spanish lessons via podcast and other material so you can learn Spanish while you sit in front of your computer, and I guess drinking coffle at the same time.
Well, I´m fluent in Spanish but I signed up my American husband to see if it could help speed up his Spanish learning process (so far two years in Spain and very little español) and so far so good, lets see if he keeps it up and is able to actually order a “cafe con leche”.

Easter week or as it is referred to here in Spain Holy Week, is one of the most cultural holidays in this part of the world. This is a week where all over Spain you can see street processions which are organized in different towns on every evening starting on Palm Sunday and ending with Easter Sunday.
The processions are very elaborate with people carrying statues and saints around on floats of wooden platforms, dressed in the typical traditional gear which can be a little scary to some foreigners since the gowns worn by the men resemble those of the KKK. Watching these processions you can feel the energy of the people and the intensity of the catholic beliefs.
The most famous Easter celebrations are held in the south of Spain in cities such as Valladolid, Toledo, Segovia, Burgos, Zamora and Cuenca. April to me is one of the best times to come to Spain, not only for Holy Week but for the incredible weather throughout the country.

Cadiz is the largest Spanish port in the Atlantic. Located just 30 minutes to the north of Jerez it is a modern day treasure. With its Andalusian character of whitewashed housed that line narrow streets that lead to lovely squares, it is a city with character and history. It´s origins can be traced to the Phoenicians, who founded the port some 3,000 years a go.
The magnificent baroque cathedral is a site that captures the heart of this city. the impressive mansions throughout the town were built with with the gold brought back from the new world. The production of liquid gold, as the famous sherry in a booming economy for this town.
Another great city to get to know and enjoy. The beaches overlooking the city will capture you and relax your soul.
