There is so much to do in Spain that you normally wouldn´t think you could do in Spain, one example is surfing, yes surfing. The north of Spain, particularly the coasts of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country have one of the best beaches where the rapture of the waves allows for surfing fun.

There are small coves hidden between a sea of cliffs, sandy beaches, and stunning surroundings that make for a wonderful sporting adventure. The waves in this part of the world are ideal for beginners and experienced surfers depending on which point you choose.

Soccer in Spain, the Spanish passion

Posted by julia on 08 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: outdoor activites

I think every country has its local favorite sport. In the US you have your choice of football, baseball or basketball, in the UK rugby is the most common but here in Spain and most of Europe Soccer (called fútbol in spanish) is the national treasure.

Spanish men schedule appointments and work schedules around the soccer matches and get together in bars of friends houses to watch all the excitement. The two most popular teams are the Real Madrid or the Barcelona Team FCB who has as its superstar Ronaldinho who is out of this world.

You are either from Madrid or Barcelona and there is no gray line here. Sport fans take this sport very seriously and will go to any lengths to enjoy the game. I don´t care much for sports but endure the games along with my husband and son who are absolute fans.

The rules of the game are pretty straight forward, kick the ball into the net, don´t use your hands and run around trying to stop the ball from getting to the opponent. This is another one of those events that you must attend to while in Spain.. pick your team right and get into the fun.

How many things are there to do in Spain? Too many to mention in just one article, but I could start little by little introducing you to all the wonders of this wonderful country that has so much to offer. Visiting Spain with children could be a lot of fun, its not all museums and cathedrals there are activities for all ages.

One of the wonders of the sea are whales, in Tarifa, Cadiz province, and, above all, the Canary Islands, with Tenerife heading this list you can set up a tour that will take you deep in the ocean where you and your family will be able to view up and close whales and dolphins while they jump all around you. Visit each towns tourist center for more information on daily tours.

One of the great things about the Mediterranean is that there is great weather almost all of the time, which means you can enjoy outdoor activities whenever you are in the mood. One of the best things to do in this part of the world is sailing. With the openness of the sea, you are free to venture out into the ocean and enjoy the salty breeze the wind brings you.

Azul Sailing is a Spanish company that offers you a vast selection of sailboats and other yachting equipment. You can rent a boat with a crew or simply go at it yourself. You can also rent historical yachts if you are feeling a bit nostalgic. You let them know what you want and they will help achieve your greatest desires.

Sierra Nevada, the perfect skiing holiday

Posted by julia on 21 Dec 2006 | Tagged as: cities to visit, outdoor activites

If you are in Spain in the winter then you need to take advantage of the cold weather in the northern parts of this country and go skiing. Spain is the second mountainous region, right behind Switzerland, so you have a lot of resort choices.

The most elite skiing in Spain tends to be in the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada but there a lot of different choices just outside Madrid as well. January and February are the perfect months to go skiing, when the snow is at its best.

So start the new year with a new adventure you are sure to love.
