If you don’t know what Txacoli is don’t worry, until a few months a go I also had no clue but thanks to some connoisseur friends I have been introduced to this fantastic drink. Txacoli is a type of sparkling white wine the proceeds from the Basque region. It is poured like sidra but has a much tastier and refreshing taste (in my opinion).
If you live in the United States you can now find three denominations of this wine from the Vizcaya, Gipúzcoa and the Alava regions. Most trendy restaurants especially in New York and San Francisco have caught on to this new craze and are going wild for this tasty treat.
If you haven’t tried it don’t be afraid of the name pronounced (chacoli), it is worth any embarrassment you may endure while trying to order it..

If you are like me and love wine but are not a connoisseur and don’t know what wine to choose not to worry. I found this great website called Snooth that gives you different wine selections to choose from and compare. You can save your favourites and add any that are not on their list. They keep a list of your likes and are then able to give you recommendations.
The wines are reviewed by other members of this website and each wine is given an overall rating.

Like everything Spain its wine is one of its treasures and Madrid being the capital of this great country is making sure that their wine labels are not only up to date but have the utmost quality since they are a representation of the entire nation.
The Vinos de Madrid website has great information regarding their wine label packaging so that you know what each brand means. For example; Reserva Black Label are wines that have been aged for at least two calendar years, six months of which need to be in wooden casks for white, rose and red wines, while the Gran Reserva Black Label indicates wines that have been aged for 36 months, in which one year of that the red wine is stored in oak casks and 6 months for white wine.
There you have it, visit their website to learn all about the different styles of wines and where to get them while in Spain.

I found this great website titled Women & Wine, just my kind of place. They have a small community that caters to women and their love of travel, and of course great wine. They have a mini wine shopping area where you can buy anything dealing with wine.
But what does this have to do with Spain you ask? Well it seems they arrange wine tours all over the United States and Europe. All you need to do is let them know where you want to go, how many people in your party and they take it from there. Great idea if you don’t know where to start.

What is a hotel in Spain without the mention of wine right? Well, as common as it sounds not until now has a hotel in Spain actually dedicated its entire theme to wine. the hotel El Prado, located about 200 meters from the Thyssen Musem is the first of its kind offering themed wine rooms.
The hotel is divided into different denominations of wine origins. The first floor is trickily dedicated to Andalucia, other themes are La Rioja and Jerez. If you are a wine connoisseur, there is no doubting where you will stay your next visit to Madrid.

Sangria, what can be said that has not been said before about this awesome typical Spanish drink. My favorite summer treat, a nice refreshing glass of sangria. Sitting down in an outdoor bar with friends and sipping a glass of sangria is probably one of the most enjoyable things one can do in Spain or anywhere else.. but in Spain it is a lot more fun.
How do you make sangria you many ask? There are many different ways you can make this treat. You just need the basic ingredients: wine and fruit the other compliments vary with each recepie. My fathers recepie is one of my favorites and it contains, red wine (a cheap bottle), a shot of , Cognac, sprite, orange juice and cut up fruit of your choice. In the beginning you will need to experiment until you get the right taste (its fun trying your mixtures until you get it right).
You can always just run to your nearest bar in Spain and order a glass or jar full of this red delicacy.
